It has been a long run, but the time has come for HeavyRoc.com to shut down. The site has been around for over 6 years. For awhile it was one of the major websites supporting the Rochester music scene. I have not been in Rochester for the last 5 years and it has become difficult to promote the site and stay on top of things.

I did my best to promote bands in Rochester on this site. On occassion, I put on a show to promote the site and the bands. I took enough funds to keep the site running for a bit and gave the rest to the bands. Everyone in this city works so hard to get their art out to the people. I have no musical talent, so I wanted to do what I could.

We (the users of the site and I) tried to help people too. We sponsored a fundraiser for Katrina victims, and held a Heavyroc-a-thon for our friend Cameron from A Day Without Rain, after he had a car accident. When our friends in the music community passed away we tried our best to pay tribute to them. We did that so everyone that did not know them could see how they had touched so many people.

I am not trying to pat myself on the back. For many years this was more than just a website to myself and a lot of people. I made a lot of friends through the message board, as did many other people. Bands were formed, or at least completed through our classifieds. Bands were able to garner at least a few more fans through the show postings. Relationships were formed through the show swapping section.

I want to thank everyone that has used the site or that has contributed to it in some way. You made my experiment a successful one and I truely thank you for it.

Sincerly,
Kevin -

P.S. Dano made a Facebook group to replace this site.
